The only lithium carbonate producer on US soil, Chemetall Foote Corp. has been awarded $28.4m. by the US government to expand and upgrade its Silver Peak brine operation in Nevada.
The funding to the Chemetall GmbH subsidiary is part of a $2,400m. investment by the US Department of Energy directly into the mine to market chain for next generation batteries, as the country pushes towards mass production of electric vehicles.
